Not only does a poor sense of self confidence hinder your date snaring skills it can be a real obstacle to enjoying a full life. Someone lacking in self confidence is more likely to pass up a whole host of life experiences, oppertunities and fun simply becuase they don't have the necessary self belief to give new experiences a chance.
There are many ways of breaking the mental boundaries of a lacking self confidence. If you've found yourself shying away from conversations becuase you're self conscious of your body, passed up on dates because you didn't think you were good enough or turned down oppertunities becuase you didn't think you were capable... have a look at building your self confidence. In the end, you will find the only barrier is yourself. Have a look at some of these ideas for tearing down those self confidence barriers and start harnessing a fuller life.
Books:
Working on and developing confidence is within everybody's grasp. Initially, think about which area of your life you'd like to improve - such as confidence at work, with people, in relationships, self-image, etc. Once you've thought about the area you'd like to improve start doing some research.
Go into any major bookstore to the self-help section and you'll find stacks of titles on how to improve self-confidence. It's worth taking time to look through a few before parting with your cash.
These are a few good suggestions for dating and general self-esteem self help literature;
* Would Like to Meet - The Ultimate Dating Makeover
* Coach Yourself to Confidence - Wendy Bristow
* How to Improve Your Confidence - Dr Kenneth Hambly
* 60 tips for Self Esteem - Lynda Field
* Rebuilding: When Relationships End - Bruce Fisher
* Revolution from Within: A Book of Self-Esteem - Gloria Steinem
Internet:
The internet is another wonderful source of information. Simply type 'relationship confidence coaching' or 'improve self-esteem' into a major search engine and you'll tap into a rich seam of expert advice. Sites range from books and residential courses to personal e-mail/telephone coaching.
Incidentally, if personal one-to-one coaching is what you want, go on a personal recommendation (if you can), check out the experience and credentials of the person offering the coaching and ask for a 'taster' session.
Tomorrow I'll look at two further avenues to develop self confidence... Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and personal or group classes.
