Does proper spelling help with online personals?
April 3rd 2008 03:10
I find it endlessly amusing to read the personals and see what people are offering. Due to the flippant nature of the internet, I'd say most of the ads are pathetically terse.
Something along the lines of "attractive male seeks beautiful girl for friendship/relationship. Email me back if you're interested!"
As if this kind of ad would draw the attention of any single woman, especially when scattered among the noise of 100 ads just like yours.
There is a certain kind of ad that makes me wonder if it can have any possible success... I'm talking about the moronic SMS speech ad. Where all the words have been shortened to single letters, rendering the message as a childish simpleton babbling.
For example, read this ad which has the following title:
Shocking, isn't it? Are there any women out there that find this cute, interesting or appealing?
You'd suspect that this was an ad from a 16 year old, but, no, the poster claims that he's 28.
Hey-sus! 28 and writing like this?
The ad itself is a mishmash of unintelligible ideas:
Again, are there girls that are willing to say "HHHHHHHIIII BOOOOY"?
Please, someone answer his ad and let me know how it gets on.

I put an add on the internet in the friend only section stating explicitly that I am looking for friends only and for people to do activities such as sport, weekend outings...etc. I didn't state who I was or my gender. I received a reply from a girl telling me that she liked my ad and that she attached a picture. the picture? half naked and in a provocative position. I didn't answer but received several emails from her. I finally replied that she should check her sections and that as I stated she is not what I was looking for (friends) and that I had no interest in finding a playmate or a hooker I think I said; thinking she would leave me alone.
On the opposite on what you might think she didn't feel offended or anything and replied that she was not looking for a playmate either. So I asked why do you send this picture then. the reply? because I want somebody to f*** me.
Very nice!
I just want to add that from the look of it she was not that young.... so it seems that there are all sorts of girls.
And some seem to be very stupid if I judge by my experience with her.
I had to be more rude then what I did before and tell her more then explicitly to leave me alone to get rid of her.
Or maybe it was just the fact that I told her that I was a girl too? It seems that people seem to forget that girls can be willing to do spot also and to find partners to play sport.
