7) Get back to nature – A stroll and picnic in the wilderness is a nice way of unwinding with your partner. It would have to be one of the cheapest forms of entertainment and can keep a couple occupied for the entire day. There are national parks throughout Australia and they are easily accessible from the major cities. Athletic types can try biking, rowing, kayaking or hiking through the paths and trails. This is a great way of getting a daily serve of exercise, fresh air and quality time spent with your partner. For the more passive types a simple leisurely bushwalk can bring a breath of fresh air to any date. Pack a small picnic lunch, find a secluded area and enjoy some quiet time together. If a national park is not convenient, a small picnic in a local park can be just a refreshing. Try a botanical garden. The Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney provide an expansive area to sit, lunch and chill. There are plenty of nice vantage points with views of the Harbour where you can watch all the activity and beauty of the Sydney Harbour.
8) Rock climbing – Indoor rock climbing is a brilliant couple sport. There’s that element of trust and team work as you help each other scale the wall. As it is indoors, there is never a problem with nasty weather. It is a superb workout and can help with strength and muscle definition. Furthermore, it gets those exercise endorphins buzzing. All factors considered rock climbing is a good couple mood activity. Most rock climbing centres will allow you to hire any necessary equipment and the prices are reasonable. If you’re both new to the sport, you can take group or private lessons to get started and it is very quick to pick up the basics required to start scaling. Centres have different grades of walls to scale as you improve you can up the ante and try a more competitive wall.
9) Get sporty – Australians love sports but rather than assuming the couch potato position why don’t you and your partner go to a live sporting event. Anyone who suggests that Aussie women aren’t into sport has clearly been living under a rock. Crowds at AFL, rugby and soccer matches have at health proportion of female fans. There is something uniquely exhilarating about the atmosphere of being at a sporting event which is never captured when viewed from a TV. The passion, excitement and suspense of a sporting game is at its most intense within the arena. Tickets to national competitions can be purchased relatively cheaply. Track down your favourite football, soccer, cricket, rugby or AFL side, don their colours and cheer together. International events tend to be on the more expensive side, even in the final rows. As an occasional treat, a big international sporting game may well be a fun date.
For an ultra cheap option try supporting a local amateur team. Go see a sibling, niece or friend tough it out on the sporting pitch. No doubt they will appreciate your support and amateur sports can provide just as much excitement as the professionals. Watching kids play sport can be hilarious, so if either your or your partner has a younger family member, offer a big hand of encouragement and take some time to barrack from the sidelines.
