Got Dumped?
April 30th 2006 19:33
I was watching trash headline news today and one of the stories was a “relationships expert” grab about why people should end relationships their not completely happy with rather than staying with a partner to avoid an awkward break up. So the news item was a bit of a no brainer… “wow, this relationship is unfulfilling. Maybe I should have some balls and end it so both parties can move on to brighter things.” I still can’t believe people can spin a career out of dishing out common-bloody-sense. To motive those who want to avoid the fights and confrontation of breaking up, the reporter went on to say that emails are now an acceptable way to dump partners. This piece of advice made me do a total double take (which on a treadmill can be a particularly dangerous move). How can a responsible TV show encourage people to be so spineless. I started thinking about the worst ways people can get dumped. One of my friends ended a 5 year relationship via an sms message from her boyfriend. I thought that was pretty low, but getting dumped with an email would probably be equally bad. Here’s a list of some other bad, gutless methods of dumping,
1) Starting a fight and using it as an excuse to dump the partner.
2) Completely cutting off all contact and disappearing.
3) Getting a friend to tell your partner they’re dumped.
4) In front of a bunch of people. Extra points if alcohol, friends and relatives are present.
5) Behaving like a jerk/bitch to get them to dump you.
6) Using a fake, transparent excuse.

Anyways, I still thought your post was funny. Hopefully you find my advice on LoveMate better and not just common sense

What about if she gets another boyfriend, then issues
a restraining order to make sure you don't come around or call her. Even if you didn't know she was seeing someone else, it was just to protect her from being caught by you. At this point you have no choice but
to die out with no way to contact or talk to her.
It was very cruel. It's been 9mths now, and I haven't heard from her. I had never done anything to hurt her.
I guess that was my problem.
