Memorable Dates

What has been your most memorable date and what specifically made it extra special? I figure we can all help each other out by sharing some ideas for a few extra surprise we can thrown into our relationships to either keep the flames firing for those that are already in a relationship or help spark up something new for those that are just starting out. I’m one of those jaded, pissed off lovers that hasn’t really had anything extra special thrown into my past relationships. Fair enough, I never really went out of my way either, so I can’t put the full force of blame on those unromantic sloths.
Now, I’ve heard all these gushing stories about women find rose petals strewn about their bedrooms, secret love notes on Post-It notes stuck throughout the bathroom and cars filled with heart shaped balloons. It all sounds like a lot of cleaning up to me (that’s the jaded alter-ego talking), but has anyone actually come across these romantic little surprises? What has been the most romantic thing a partner has done for you?
A few years ago my parents were coming up to their 40th wedding anniversary. Knowing how much of a slacker my dad was with such matters I took matters into my own hands and hired a sea plane overnight adventure for them as a surprise. It worked out really well. I smuggled an overnight bag with a set of clothes and picked them up on Saturday morning telling them that I was taking them to a restaurant in Rose Bay for lunch to celebrate my new job.
We drove down to Rose Bay and I suggested that we walked along the foreshore since it was such a nice day and we were a little early for our booking. There were a few seaplanes circling and mum saw one landing which seemed to give her much delight. At this point she decided to recount a wonderful tale of how as a young girl she was sitting not too far from where we were standing and watched a seaplane fall out of the sky and crash land into the Bay. Great fucking story mum!
Anyway, we waltz past the seaplane jetty and I suggested we go investigate further. Ok so that sounded a tad oddball, but nonetheless it got them through the door. No sooner where they in the reception area the lady at the front register handed them their tickets and they were shooed down the jetty towards a waiting seaplane looking like a pair of stunned mullets.
According to reports it was a great little getaway and anniversary surprise. Certainly when I picked them up the following afternoon they were rosy cheeked and spent the entire car ride relaying the seaplane flying experience. Apparently something every should experience once.
