Top Ten Relationship Mistakes Made by Women

December 14th 2006 01:09
Here are the next five common relationship mistakes made by women.

6. Being too co-dependent. Everyone needs their space from each other. When you’re in love with someone and all you want to do is spend hours together it can be hard to give others the space that they may need. Personal time spent away from a partner is a healthy part of any relationship. If you are worried that your partner is cheating or not interested in you there are clearly some trust and self esteem issues that may need to be worked out. Nevertheless, in the long term it is impractical to be tied to the hip with your partner. With time, a clingy partner will appear insecure, needy and high maintenance.

7. Assuming you can change someone. Generally speaking, how you meet someone is how they’re going to be in the long term. Sure they may be open to altering their hair style or trying new cuisines, but beyond the superficial side old habits die hard. If you’re waiting around for your boyfriend to stop smoking pot and get a real job, don’t be holding your breath. When you’re in a relationship, you have to accept the good with the bad. If you can’t stand the bad, it is time to pack the bags and leave the relationship. There’s little point in expecting, wishing, pleading or hoping for people to change.

8. Losing contact with friends. Friends can be a valuable asset when you’re in a relationship. Not only do they offer a chance to socialize away from you’re partner they can also provide a fresh and honest perspective on your relationship. Whenever there are conflicts or relationship issues, friends and family members are always good to call on to get there insight into a situation. They can provide a balanced view and their opinions won’t necessarily get caught up in all the emotional baggage you may be feeling. Make sure you spare time for your friends and family no matter what’s happening in your love life.

9. Believing that you need a relationship to complete you. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of having someone to love and hold, but if that Mr Right just isn’t around at the time, there is nothing wrong with going solo until he does show up. Relationships are intended to enrich your lifestyle. By no means are they intended to complete you. Be in control of your feelings and needs. Learn to be satisfied with who you are as a person, regardless of whether you are with someone or not. Work at your self esteem, if you go through life continuall needing a relationship to feel valued you are setting yourself up for a lifetime of feeling unsatisfied and cynical.

10. Adopting a dooms day attitude. Just because you’ve had a heated argument does not mean that your relationship is on the verge of ending. Simply because your partner stayed back at the office one night does not mean that he’s banging the secretary. Some people always assume the worst and spend much of their relationship worry about when it’s all going to come to an end. Let go. Whatever will be, will be. In the meantime, enjoy your relationship. Make the most of it.
