Sex Games

April 17th 2006 00:53

Its time to fold away the Dance Revolution dance mat, toss out the joysticks and get a Pink Rabbit. Online gamers are swapping fighting for fornicating. It’s not a totally new concept, Sims Hot Date, Virtual Jenna and Playboy Mansion have fused sex and gaming. However, these games were played on a completely independent level. The unique thing about the latest generation of sex gaming is the online component. For the first time gamers can interact with other users.

‘Naughty America: The Game’ is set for release in a couple months. Gamers will be able to create an online character, meet, date, flirt and have sex with other players. A few others that are already in the testing phase are ‘Red Light Center’ and ‘Rapture Online.’

On the negative side, there’s the obvious worry of opening up another channel for sexual predators. On the positive side, those in long distant relationships believe it will be a way of bridging intimacy, plus, it does give STDs the flick.

But the most important question I wanna know is… how do you win? Call me old fashioned but there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of advancing through the levels of Super Mario or obliterating an opponent in Counterstrike. First past the post isn’t going to hold much stick as a measure of superiority.

Where is the development side of these games? Pimp rankings? Bed post notches? Damnit… where’s my score? And why doesn’t my post coital cigarette taste as sweet in virtual reality?

I've played that Playboy game. The problem with games is that they're not sexy at all. 3D polygon women aren't realistic enough to be attractive. I'd prefer it if they went back to handdrawn sprites...
