Why you should try speed dating

If you’re life is too busy for the convention meet and greet style of dating, or if you are fed up with wasting your time with online dating or finding people online, perhaps speed dating is a new route to try. Speed dating has been round for a few years and is just as successful and disastrous as other methods of meeting people. The only difference with speed dating is that it can take some time out of weeding through those that aren’t your match. Speed dating has the potential to condense a few weeks worth of dating into one afternoon. Rather than going on one date, you can go on several 5 minute mini dates.
Sure it’s not the ‘usual’ way of meeting people and just like online dating, it is easy to get the wrong impression about someone after a short, quick introduction. However, it does open up the floodgates to a world of possibilities. It is far easier to find people that you are possibly compatible with when you meet them in person rather than on an online chat or dating site. It is far easier to judge someone’s character in person and that remains one of the distinct disadvantages of online dating.
Here are some of speed dating's advantages:
1. The ability to meet many people on one evening and learn more about them. Instead of meeting one person in a few hours, you will usually meet at least a dozen.
2. Speed dating gives you a safe environment to meet a host of new faces. It can be a little daunting meeting new people who you have yet to develop any sort of trust with. A speed dating event offers the safety of an organized, planned event. This helps you loosen up and be more approachable. There’s no ulterior motives, no need to worry about spiked drinks or sleazy gropes. It is simply a matter of being yourself and fishing out what is right for you.
3. There’s nothing worse than getting stuck on a date with someone who you are just not digging. With speed dating, if you don't like the 'date,' he or she is literally out of your face in 3-5 minutes and you’re on to the next. You are obviously forced to cut to the chase when you only have three minutes to talk and find commonalities.
3. It eliminates the small talk and useless chit-chat and makes you get right to the point. There is really little time to be false or beat about the bush. Speed dating forces you and those that you meet to look for that instant spark.
4. You are able to better compare your options, choices and dates. The difficulty with going out with one individual on Monday night and the next one the following Saturday night is that it is hard to compare and contrast the two dates. Meet everyone all at once in the same evening and they are all fresh in your mind and easier to figure out who you had the most fun with and who rocked your socks the most.
