Vege-dates

April 7th 2006 20:58
I’ve discovered this new fad of dating by diet preference. It’s utter genius! When you think about it, food and dining is a pretty big part of people’s daily lives. As a meat eater, I will automatically cut any vegetarian or vegan off the potential partner list. Cross dieting relationships are such a minefield. There’s the continual guilt trips, the restaurant negotiations and the grocery store domestics. The combination is just total chaos. I vegetarian friend is enough to push the boundaries of tolerance.

Now, thanks to Diet Apartheid, all these problems are solved. Vegetarians and vegans around the world are hooking up on dating sites such as Vegedate and VeggieFishing. I think this needs to be taken further. Finding a partner would be so much easier with the likes of Atkinslovers.com, hiproteinlowcarbconnections.org or lonleylactoseintolerants.co.

Hey Ruth,

Haha I like this concept of dating someone based on your eating style! I once had a boyfriend that didn't like to eat sweets and I LOVE sweets. We ended up breaking up for nothing that related to that but now that I think about it, I couldn't live like that with him. I could never enjoy a dessert I made because he wouldn't eat it and think about the wedding day, he wouldn't enjoy the cake exchange part.. that's the best part! So I agree.. only hook up with people with similar taste. So I need a Ilovesweets.com

Ruth, I'm totally on board. No more vegetarians!

After all, killing defenseless plants is cruel.

I wont eat anything that casts a shadow! (simpsons quote)

Fully understand the concept, if you cant agree on something as basic as food then where does that leave you? First few dates would be a nightmare - you wouldnt be able to live together either, who whats to cook 2 meals?

looks like the site youre looking for is meatyourman.com

Hahahaha very nice, Matt you hit the nail on the head. Take this. Your girlfriend promises to cook you a nice hot meal after a long day at work, so you're expecting a nice [insert meaty meal here]. You get home only to see plants on your plate. The awkwardness is unimaginable. *runs away*

Very interesting post Ruth.

Yeah, I'm totally convinced about this dating by food preference. I'm into this meatyourman.com site. Big ups to the carnivores!

Ruth that is such an interesting concept - and probably inevitable considering the random dating mechanisms popping up all over the place. My auntie's been a vege since she was 10 and is marrying a fisherman - talk about opposites! I think more than just dinner preferences aren't agreeable in that relationship. If I was vege, for reasons of animal cruelty, I don't think I could date someone who makes a living out of something I'm against. So I guess the whole vege/vegan dating sites are ingenius because this could be a major issue for some people.
